A White Card, officially the General Construction Induction Card, is the mandatory safety credential for anyone who works on, supervises or regularly visits a construction site in Australia. It proves you have completed the accredited unit CPCWHS1001 and understand basic site safety, hazards and your legal obligations.

Yes. Online delivery is approved by the regulators in NSW and QLD, and the White Card you receive is nationally recognised across all states and territories. The key is that the training is delivered and assessed in real time by a qualified trainer, which is exactly how our course runs.

It is live. The course is delivered by a trainer over Zoom in a single scheduled session, with theory and a practical assessment where you select and fit PPE. It is not an automated, study-whenever module, because genuine White Card training must be observed and assessed by a qualified assessor.

The unit and the resulting card are the same and both are nationally recognised. The differences are state requirements: NSW runs up to 7 hours with a minimum age of 14 and issues a same-day Statement of Training while the card arrives by mail in about two weeks; QLD runs up to 5 hours with a minimum age of 13 and the physical card is posted the next business day. You must be located in the state you are training for at the time of the session.

You will need a USI, the required ID documents, your own basic PPE (hi-vis, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses, available from Bunnings for under $20), and a computer with a working camera, speaker and microphone plus a stable internet connection to run Zoom. You must also complete a short language, literacy and numeracy assessment in English.

Plan for a single session on the day; up to 7 hours in NSW and up to 5 hours in QLD, including assessment and allocated breaks.

In NSW you receive a Statement of Training the same day so you can start work immediately, with the physical card posted by SafeWork NSW within roughly two weeks. In QLD we post your physical card the next business day after you have met all requirements.

The White Card itself does not have an expiry date, though some employers ask for refresher training if you have been out of the industry for a while.

They are equivalent. CPCWHS1001 is the current unit code and it superseded the older CPCCWHS1001 in 2022. A White Card issued under either code remains valid and nationally recognised.
