Our Traffic Controller course (previously known as the Blue Card) is a SafeWork NSW-approved and nationally recognised training program, designed for those looking to enter the traffic control industry. This course teaches essential skills such as stopping and directing traffic using a stop/slow bat, portable traffic lights, or boom gates.

Upon completion, participants receive a SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card, with no hidden fees and same-day certification. A White Card is usually required by employers, and those looking to expand their skills can also complete the Implement Traffic Control Plans course (formerly the Yellow Card). This course does not cover setting up or closing traffic control plans—please refer to our combo training options for both qualifications.

Our Implement Traffic Control Plans course (previously known as the Yellow Card) is SafeWork NSW-approved and nationally recognised, ideal for those wanting to advance in the traffic control industry. This course equips participants with the skills to set up and close down traffic control plans, use signage and barriers, and ensure worksite safety.

Upon completion, participants receive a SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card, with same-day certification and no hidden fees. A White Card is generally required by employers, and combining this with our Traffic Controller course offers broader opportunities. This course does not cover directing traffic—please refer to our combo training options for both qualifications.

​The Implement Traffic Control Plans Course, formerly known as the Yellow Card, is designed for individuals responsible for setting up, monitoring, and closing down traffic guidance schemes or work zone Traffic Management Plans. Participants will learn to identify safety implications at roadworks, operate two-way radios effectively, and apply relevant legislation and procedures.

This SafeWork NSW-approved training program culminates in the issuance of a Traffic Control Work Training Card (TCWT), enabling immediate commencement of work upon course completion. Entry requirements include being at least 17 years old, holding a current SafeWork NSW White Card (or equivalent), providing a Unique Student Identifier (USI), and presenting original identification documents totalling at least 100 points. Additionally, participants should have the physical capacity to handle equipment and are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes for practical training

The Traffic Controller & White Card Combo Course offered by Upskill Institute is designed for individuals aiming to work in traffic management and construction environments. This combined training provides participants with the necessary skills to control traffic using stop/slow bats, portable traffic control devices, and temporary traffic signs, as well as the knowledge to work safely within the construction industry. 

Upon successful completion, participants receive both a SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card and a General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card), enabling immediate employment in these sectors. Entry requirements include being at least 17 years old, providing a Unique Student Identifier (USI), and presenting original identification documents totaling at least 100 points, as per SafeWork NSW guidelines. Participants should also have the physical capacity to handle equipment and are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes for practical training.

To become a traffic controller, one must be at least 17 years old, have a white card (since traffic control sites are considered construction sites), and complete specific training courses. These courses include RIIWHS201E, RIICOM201E, RIIWHS205E, and RIIWHS206, which involve pre-reading material, in-class and outdoor training, and a final practical assessment. Additional training can also be pursued for more advanced roles in traffic control.
